THE BACKLASH

As Jessica sat at her desk reading the text from Nalini she was in disbelief. She felt like there was more to the story or at least hoped it was more. For now she had to figure out how to approach Dean. When Dean came back to his desk Jessica decide to go with a subtle approach. “So partner how are things with you and LT going?” Jessica questioned. Dean lit up and replied. “Wonderful I love her more and more each day.” Jessica was even more nervous now to tell Dean about the message she just received from her girlfriend.

“Do you know where LT is right now Dean?” She continued her interrogation. Dean looked at his partner puzzled and confused. “I’m not sure, is there a reason for these questions jess. Just spill it what’s going on?” He asked. “Listen I don’t want to cause a rift between you and Latanya but Nalini just texted me saying LT is on a date with a light skinned man. She didn’t know if you two were still together or not.” Jessica said not knowing what to expect.

Dean’s dark smooth face instantly turned red. He wasn’t sure what Nalini thought she saw but it couldn’t be LT, Could it? As he sat at his desk trying to put it all together one person came to mind Jason her ex. But why and how long had she been going on secret dates with the man she said hurt her beyond repair. Dean was fuming he slammed his fist on the desk so hard it startled everyone in the bullpen.

“Dean calm down.” Ramirez got up and put her arm on his shoulder. “Remember where you are right now. I’m sure there is an explanation for this I’ve never seen anyone look at someone the way Latanya looks at you. Take a minute regroup and come back. She insisted. As Dean got up to take that walk captain Casey called them both into his office. He heard the commotion and brought them into his office. “What’s going on, is there a reason you’re breaking up official NYPD property Mckenner??” Casey asked.

“Dean is fine captain he just got a little hot over the case”. Ramirez tried to cover it up. Casey was an old timer he knew when women trouble was affecting a man he was married three times. He finally got it right on the third try. “Dean I think you need to take a few days off. I can’t have you losing it in front of these rookies”. Casey told Dean.

He hadn’t realized how much of a show he’d actually put on. “But cap. What about the caymans.” Dean pleaded. “Monroe will most likely still be around, I can’t have you out of it trying to bring someone down”. Casey told him. The talk with Casey really brought him back to reality. “You’re right cap. I don’t know what came over me. I’m going to head home now.” Dean said as he walked out of the precinct.
